Why do I have to register my dog? November 29, 2006

With so many celebrities getting dogs that they have no business of owning, I see more and more people purchasing dogs they shouldn't be owning.

I don't mean that people shouldn't buy animals as pets...I just wish that they knew how to properly take care of them, or know that not everyone has the same love for animals as they do (or think they do)

On an airplane, people are allowed to bring pets on a plane.  If it's a small breed, they can bring in onboard the aircraft with them. If it's a larger breed, then they must check it below (depending on weather restrictions)

Bringing an animal on the plane does come with a small fee.  Many people don't want to pay this fee, so they just get a regular bag and try to sneak the animal onboard.

What they don't realize is that if the animal is not in our reports, then they might be seated next to someone that has an allergic reaction to pets.  To some people, this could be a fatal mistake that the animal owner never thought of.

I am not sure exactly what the fee is, but it's better to have the pet registered and pay the fee up front, than to have either the Flight Attendants know about it, who find out that the animal is on board, but not on the paperwork, and get charged later.

Who knows, maybe if you travel all the time with your pet, ask to see if you can apply for frequent flyer status for your animal...maybe now the whole family can receive free tickets.

Do stop to think about the health concerns of those people around you.  Just because you are not allergic to pet dander, doesn't mean that the person sitting next to isn't.

Until next time,

Sluggo
